Over 600 Guests Sign Up for Blood Donations at Akanji Exhibition for Sickle Cell Awareness!
We are thrilled to announce the tremendous success of the recent Akanji Art Exhibition, which brought together over 600 attendees in a powerful display of art and poetry inspired by sickle cell disease. This event not only highlighted the talents of our artists and poets but also played a crucial role in educating and mobilising the community.
Thanks to the moving artworks and the dedicated presence of NHS Blood and Transplant, hundreds of visitors were inspired to register as blood donors. On-site blood type testing enabled immediate engagement, turning inspiration into action within moments. Each piece at the exhibition was infused with stories and struggles associated with sickle cell, aiming to foster understanding and empathy. The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing a new appreciation for the challenges faced by those affected by sickle cell disease.
Akanji Exhibition has set a new standard for how art can intersect with health advocacy. We are incredibly proud of the community's response and the tangible outcomes that will contribute to saving lives.
